Einstein was quoted as saying “a Table, a Chair, a Bowl of fruit and a violin, what else does a man need to be happy!”
Well, he needs a secure website! Today we’re going to talk briefly about secure websites why they are being pushed and what your options are.
You see as consumers, we’ve been trained to never buy anything unless the Website is Secure. However as the Internet has evolved over time security has become a greater issue and is quickly becoming the focus of all the major search engines. Beginning in October of 2017 Google Chrome which is the most widely used browser for accessing websites is warning visitors if your site is not secure…this is a huge issue.
It can result in people being uncomfortable with your site and immediately leaving and that’s actually if they even make it to your site. Industry experts believe that over time Google will actually not even show non-secure Websites in the search results.
So if you want to maintain or increase your search results on Google you need to be secure. This is your only option.
What others are saying
techcrunch.com released a recent blog as well regarding changes in the Web Industry stating “Google’s Chrome browser will soon flag every site that doesn’t use HTTPS encryption. Starting in July, with the launch of Chrome 68, Chrome will mark all HTTP sites as ‘not secure’ and prominently highlight this in its URL bar.”
